June 14, 2005 - Day Two
We woke up at 5:30! (We did that almost everyday)! We had a stretch/Yoga circle from 6:15 to 6:45. It felt so good! After stretching we ate breakfast. I had brown sugar oatmeal and it was so good with hot cocoa, because it’s COLD at night!
By 9 am we were in the boats and on our way to go 15 miles downstream to our next campsite, on the first 5 miles, we hit a few class 1 rapids. They are cool. We got offshore and we learned that we were going to purposely tip the boat and get back in so we knew what to do if that really happened. The first group did really good and then my group couldn’t get back on top. I feel like we failed that one because we had to use the rescue boat, or the “pig”. Alexis W was on first so she helped us on the raft. It was so COLD!! We dried off some and were back on the river!
After lunch, we hit some class 2 rapids and they are so much fun!! (Mom you would have loved the nature sounds and the scenery, it’s so peaceful and quiet!) The rapids got bigger as we went on. We were always getting wet on the rapids, but oh gosh, it was fun.
At camp, Jenny, Lauren, Trung, and I made dinner. We had rice with veggies: zucchini, carrots, broccoli, onions, and green peppers. We ate and then “circled up.” We “circled up a lot after every meal. It was fun. We learned a song too! Its “You are my Sunshine.” We learned a game called “The Pony Game.” It is set up like Tue Tue (a game of nonsense words and hand claps) with two circles. It’s so fun.
