Programs by Request
Girl Scouts of the Calumet Council listens to what girls want and responds! Girls in the 11-17 age group told us that attending council sponsored programs was difficult due to their busy schedules, so we came up with a new idea called “Programs by Request”.
Here’s how it works:
In the Spring Program and Training Guide, some programs for Girls 11-17 will have a “By Request” designation next to them. If you can attend the program on the date that it’s scheduled, great! If not, you can choose to request that the program be presented again, and you get to choose the date and time! There are some rules, though:
- You have to commit to at least 10 girls attending. We will need their registration forms and payment before committing to the date.
- The date has to be agreeable with the Older Girl Program Coordinator’s schedule.
- The Service Center (or a suitable location) must be available on that date.
- “By Request” programs must take place within six weeks of the original program date, and cannot occur before the program was scheduled.
- We will make every effort to present the program exactly as it was presented originally, but some changes may be beyond our control; for instance, a special guest speaker will only be present for the original date, not for any additional dates.
- “By Request” dates will be limited to 3 per program; that means that the first 3 troops that request that program will get it. After that, it will no longer be offered.
- We encourage collaboration between troops. Check with other Older Girl Advisors to see if some of their girls can come on the date you have selected. The more girls we have, the better it is for everyone. Contact the Council office for names and phone numbers of other leaders, or check with your Service Unit.
