Girls earn incentives and
Troop proceeds on Booth Sales

Booth Sales

  • Booth sales are a great way to increase your troop's success. Remember, you must have the appropriate permission from authorities and your council before the booth sale.
Girl Scout Cookie Booth Sale

Location, Location, Location

Always get approval from business or location manager to have a booth sale. Merrillville Regional Service Center, Calumet must also approve the date and location of the booth sale (submit a Cookie Booth Sale Application).

Marketing experts agree: you sell more by going where your customers are. More and more often this is NOT at home! Cookie buyers are at:Sporting events (e.g. High school football, soccer and basketball games, Little League games, etc.)

Grocery Stores
Hardware Stores
Video Stores
Post Offices
Churches
Malls
Banks
Quick oil change shops
Office Buildings
Colleges
And the list goes on!!

Every year sales opportunities are missed because cookie buyers and cookie sellers do not cross paths. As research tells us, reaching customers is MORE than half of the game. Fact is, when asked to buy, 85% say YES!

To maximize success, consider these proven tips:

  • If some varieties are not selling, open a box (which the troop must purchase), break them into bite-size pieces, and let customers take a sample. This sample will likely spark interest among customers and increase your sales. Check with the Service Center to see if there are any Council Samples available.
  • Make an attractive table display to gain customer interest. Balloons and a bright table cloths will attract attention.
  • Bring along your troop/group goal poster and pictures of activities in which you have participated.

Thoughts to Remember for a Successful Booth Sale

  • All girls and adults should be in Girl Scout uniform, if possible. If they do not have a uniform, they should wear the Girl Scout pin.
  • “SAFETY-WISE” states: “When Girl Scouts operate a booth in a store, mall, or other public place, adults must be present at all times.” Merrillville Regional Service Center, Calumet further recommends that two adults be present with Girl Scouts, so that no girl will be left unescorted.
  • Girls should not be playing.
  • Merchants provide this service by allowing booth sales. It is important to show appreciation by being friendly and cooperative. Follow the rules of the store. Be sure to thank the manager in person and also send a follow-up note written by the girls.
  • Always say “Thank You” to the customer even if they don’t buy cookies.
  • Wait for customers to come to you. Don’t step away from the table to stop them in the aisles or before entering the store.
  • Arrive on time and leave on time, especially if you advertised a specific time.
  • Clean up completely. Girl Scouts always leaves a place cleaner than they found it.
  • NO TAGALONGS at Booth Sale!!

Don’t forget Cookie Costumes are available! You must reserve them from the Service Center! All costumes are due back the next business day after your sale.
